Bringing up baby

Create stunning kids’ bedroom decor with illustrated alphabet prints

When you’re having a baby, you want to create the perfect haven in the baby’s nursery. You want it to be calm and comforting, but stylish. As the baby grows into a toddler with brilliant interests and vivid imagination, you want to spark that creativity, enhance their enjoyment of their favourite things - and make their bedroom feel like their own. This continues as little ones become young children - no longer toddlers, they don’t want to be babied, but their interests still run strong and they know incredible amounts about their favourite things! (no one knows more about dinosaurs than a 5 year old fan, am I right?!)

The perfect way to inject imagination and enjoyment into a nursery or child’s room with decor that both children and parents will love, is with one of my illustrated alphabet prints. They’re helpful for recognising the letters of the alphabet - but more than that, they are about inspiring young imaginations and giving the little one loads of details that they can spot and point out - and continue to do as they grow older.

These alphabet prints grow with your child in that they are not babyish. Even children entering double digits still love their illustrated alphabet prints! These make a perfect gift when you want a unique present that won’t be grown out of in a few months (how long do those cute babygrows last? Feels like 5 minutes!) They’re also unisex - I don’t prescribe which print is ‘for girls’ or ‘for boys’ because as many girls love dinosaurs as much as others love pink, and boys love under-the-sea themes as well as pirates or woodland animals. My illustrated alphabet prints are for everyone.

I hand-draw every single element in my alphabet prints, which makes each one original and full of interesting and often humourous details. Themes are:

  • Mermaids - full of magical creatures, exotic fish, under-the-sea creatures, coral, shells and of course mermaids and merman in a gorgeous deep turquoise colour

  • Jungle - full of favourite jungle and exotic animals, from lemur to lion, chameleon to crocodile and many more! Can you spot the baby gorilla? They’re all interacting with the alphabet letters in fun ways, hiding in and out of the tropical foliage.

  • Dinosaurs - a massive favourite for so many children both girls and boys. Here there is a different dinosaur for every letter of the alphabet, illustrated in beautiful detail and as accurately as possible according to my research! Dinosaur names are included for children to learn any that they don’t know, but several favourites are in there already.

  • Vintage rose - a classic dusky pink alphabet with twining roses and vintage nursery toys. This sweet, traditional alphabet looks delicately beautiful in any nursery.

  • Pirates - this swashbuckling alphabet will excite all pirate fans with all its details and goings on! From skeleton pirates brandishing a cutlass, to a shark ripping the driftwood lettering and cannons firing all over the place, there’s so much detail to spot in this one it will inspire little ones for years.

  • Woodland - this gentle alphabet in light sage green lettering takes you through all the seasons in a British woodland. From spring flowers to falling autumn leaves, with shy animals peeking out from behind twisting ivy and vines, there are many details to spot as it is packed with all sorts of critters and creatures.

These illustrated alphabet prints are A3 in size (30x40cm) and look wonderful framed for a beautiful focal point in a child’s bedroom or nursery. Co-ordinating items are available to continue your decor theme including personalised children’s name illustrations, initial letters, and hand-painted wooden door plaques ideal for bedroom doors, shelf display or wall decor above the bed.
