A cornucopia of clay cuties
You could be forgiven for asking the question “But…why?” about the cute clay characters that have dominated my work over the past year or so, and they’ve certainly grabbed all the attention! I have been asked what made me start making these, so why don’t you get comfortable and I’ll tell you all about it.
The adventures of Patrick Pasty
When my friend Natalie suggested we go to a talk at Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival, I was more than happy to go to such a lovely event - we love a cultural outing which is a thinly veiled excuse for a good catch up over tea and cake.
With a little help from my friends
Let’s help a Figgy friend. This is a different one from me, but an important one. Yesterday I found out that my friend Jo Evans has breast cancer - a diagnosis that sadly so many people receive. I’m going to share some information here from Jo’s friend Beth McElligott regarding the treatment plan and what they need.
Behind the scenes
Images are seriously important to a business, whether it’s creating the ‘feel’ of a brand or displaying products so people know what they’re buying, as customers we all absorb a multitude of impressions from photography.
Unique designs, sustainable clothing
There are many reasons why I love using Teemill as my clothing provider. I wanted to use my illustrations on things that I could wear and use - and also that my children could wear, too.
Cuteness overload
I’ve been busy in the kitchen (quite literally - I take over the dining table to make the clay and then my poor family think there’s something yummy baking in the oven, only to discover it’s trays of clay food!) making loads of new goodies to add to my ever-expanding clay food pantry.
Spring has sprung!
Despite the seemingly never-ending rain, Spring is actually here! I know I’m not the only one who loves seeing the daffodils blooming, bulbs popping up everywhere (I forget where they are in my garden every year!) and blossom appearing.
Beautiful Bellever - new prints
The new year provided a perfect opportunity to sit down and focus on creating some new work. The latter part of 2023 was so busy with the run up to Christmas and all the market events and excitement that I simply could not catch my breath long enough to relax and get drawing again.
Let's have a nice cuppa tea
Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love a good cup of tea. And somehow I have quite a reputation for being fussy about it - ridiculous! I just don’t like much milk!
Bespoke memory baubles
Near the end of 2023 I was honoured to be asked if I could create some personalised baubles for a very special memorial tree, to remember a much-loved family member at Christmas. She loved sunflowers and bees, but the family couldn’t find anything suitable to give the tree the colour and celebration they wanted to remember their loved one.
Why buy from a small business at Christmas?
‘Tis the season for giving, and what better way to show your loved ones you care than by supporting a small business this holiday season. In the current climate it’s more important than ever to shop small and support local, independent businesses.
Christmas craft ideas
For some festive fun, sometimes the best times are the simplest times! Get the kids involved or have some fun making free, foraged (or super reasonable) festive decor yourself. Here are some super easy Christmas craft ideas to try:
The countdown is on!
I don’t know how I still get surprised by Christmas coming, I mean it happens every year! But still, I do and I leave buying some things later than I should and it’s always disappointing if I’m unlucky and they sell out before I get round to actually buying them. Advent calendars are a prime example - I always think ‘no need to buy it just yet…’ and inevitably end up with much less choice!
Dinosaur alphabet named as a ‘best gift for 6 year olds’ by The Independent
I was thrilled to see my Dinosaur alphabet print included in The Independent’s ‘Best Gifts for Six Year Olds to inspire fun and learning’ recently on their IndyBest website, compiled by Martha Alexander and a judging panel of discerning 6 year-olds!
Dartmoor Collective summer exhibition 2023
I’m really excited to have been accepted for the Dartmoor Collective’s Summer Exhibition at Poltimore House this year.
Day of the Dad
Have you got a dude of a Dad? Or is your Grandad great? Father’s Day is coming up fast here in the UK, so it’s time to get your thinking cap on about cards and treats to celebrate fabulous fathers.
Exeter Indie Market
I’ve been a bit slow on the uptake so far this year in terms of booking markets, but I’m getting into the swing of it again now after the first Exeter Independent Market of the year this weekend!
Giving my brand a glow up
Great photography is so important to all businesses because it sells your products, makes your services visual, it sells YOU! Potential customers need to see the face behind a business.
Bringing up baby
Create stunning kids’ bedroom decor with illustrated alphabet prints. When you or your loved ones are having a baby, you want to create the perfect haven in the baby’s nursery.
Getting yourself out there
Rosie Parsons Photography got in touch with me recently to offer an Ambassador shoot. It was exciting and flattering to get Rosie’s email, but definitely one that I had to sit on for a couple of days before replying!
